We are in the process of setting up several conference rooms with the ability to use Skype (and several internal video conferencing systems as well) and we thought to use the Logitech Cam HD device since it is self contained and has built in noise canceling microphones (4 of them) and has HDMI output at 1080P with audio (uses the HDTV sound system for the audio out). The down side is that it's about $1000, but it's as good as any high end conference phone (it replaced a Polycom IP7000 in our conf room) and has more flexibility and features. And finally, the FLX is all wireless (1 speaker and 2 mics), so you don't have to deal with wires to the PC and wires to the phone jack. ![]() On another note, with Win7 you can assign a particular audio device to particular applications, so you can reserve that device for Skype audio, and let the rest of the PC audio come out of the TV speakers. So in effect, you could tie callers into your skype session, if you find it necessary. And the best part is, the phone will bridge the pc audio with any active phone call. The big plus is that the phone hooks to the PC to become another Speaker and Mic, and also works as the room's phone (handset or conference). Our setup is similar, with a SFF Win7 (Core i5) PC hooked up to a 42in Sony Bravia on a credenza at teh end of the table, and a Logitech C910 HD webcam sitting on the TV.įor audio, we tested many devices and we have settled on a Revolabs FLX2 wireless VoIP conference phone (comes in VoIP and Analog flavors) that is working well so far. We do our conferencing with a hosted Vidyo provider, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with Skype as well. I've spent the quite some time trying to find a quality setup for a small conference room that we like to do video conferencing in on a small PC. It seem there are lots of software solutions available for conference video calls I just don't understand what we would need in terms of hardware to run them. Http:/ / / topic/ 209033-using-skype-with-with-polycom-video-conferencing-unit I know Cisco make expensive products for it, but from reading this Spiceworks post I was going to put in a small form factor computer like a mac mini with an external mic and webcam, but is there a better way to do it? Unfortunately our TV isn't sky compatible with one of these Sony Skype webcams http:/ Opens a new window / / intl/ en-gb/ webcams/ tvwebcams/ sony-tv-webcam The director has asked that there be a permanent solution in place as it is usually he who starts the call and has to leave his laptop in there for the remainder of the call with everyone else. We want to have a permanent Skype hardware in our conference room.Īt work we have a Sony Bravia KDL-55NX813, that we use for Skype by plugging in a MacBook Pro. ![]()
